Chikorita Amigurumi Pattern

YARN & HOOK

  • 2mm hook
  • Stylecraft Special DK in Kelly Green, and Scheepjes in Almelo
  • Polyester toy filling
  • Fibres in Burgundy, White and Black needle felting*
  • Needle felting tool*
  • 1 x Pipe cleaner
  • Pins to place pieces before sewing together
  • Darning needle
  • Stitch markers (I prefer using scrap yarn as “stitch markers”)

* Please note that I have used needle felting to create the eyes. Needle felting is still quite new to me so I will not be including instructions on how to do this. There are lots of instructions out there if you do want to give it a go. You may want to look into alternative ways of creating the eyes.

SIZE

Chikorita is approximately 14cm tall, and 5.5cm in width, and approximately 7.5cm from front to back.

Weight: 35grams (this includes all materials used to make Chikorita)

STITCHES & ABBREVIATIONS – UK ENGLISH

ASSEMBLY

Assemble in the same order the pattern is written. I would recommend using a photo of Chikorita as reference for best possible outcome. Pin all the pieces in place before sewing to make sure it looks right. Once all the crocheted pieces are attached use a needle felting tool to create the eyes.

  1. Am I misunderstanding R18 – R19 of the Head & Body?
R18 ends at (45) stitches, but R19 ends at (52) stitches with only two Inc (which should add up to 47 stiches then.
I susoect there night be missing five extra chains in R18?

Anyways, thanks for the amazing pattern! 😀

    1. The stitch count is correct. What’s a little unclear is that in round 19 you will also work in the back of the 5 chains created in the previous round. (In round 18 you only world in one side of these chains). I will try to rewrite that round when I get a moment!

      1. Thank you for the fast response!

That makes perfect sense. I was just confused from reading ahead on the pattern, but it would probably have become clear with the stich count if I had just gone ahead and tried 🙂

        Thanks!
